2018 marks a momentous year for Sjuksköterskeföreningen i Finland rf (The Nursing Association in Finland RF), as it celebrates its 120th anniversary.
The anniversary year is commemorated, among other things, by granting a scholarship to a registered nurse for training to become a Silvia Nurse™. On 22nd March 2018, the board of directors of the association chose Ms Gerd Viklund, RN as the deserving fellow and recipient of this scholarship opportunity. The Silvia Nursing programme is a specialised nursing education in dementia care and will be provided by Sophiahemmet University and developed in collaboration with Stiftelsen Silviahemmet.
With dementia as one of the biggest challenges around the world and the number of people who are diagnosed with dementia continues to rise, The Nursing Association in Finland RF wants to give attention to its anniversary by investing in quality and evidence-based care of people living with dementia. Through the scholarship, the association also hopes to share its cause with more people as well.
Swedish Care International on its side wishes to congratulate Ms Viklund and her the best of luck in her education. We would also like to thank The Nursing Association in Finland RF for its commitment to help patients living with dementia, the nurses caring for this patient group and also for putting its trust in the Sophiahemmet University education.
The Silvia Nursing Programme in Dementia Care is also available internationally in English for registered nurses and is open for application until April 16, 2018.
