On September 24 and 25, we hosted our first-ever Queen Silvia Nursing Award Network Meeting at the Ulfsunda Slott in Stockholm, Sweden, and we are proud to say that it was a tremendous success! Over those two days, we welcomed 19 Queen Silvia Nursing Award alumni from Sweden, Finland, Poland and Germany, who were extremely satisfied with the event.

The Queen Silvia Nursing Award Network Meeting kicked off with an opening speech by Fanny Enström, Project Director of QSNA. The programme that followed was the highly anticipated Alumni Ceremony, which was also witnessed by the SCI Board of Directors. All 19 QSNA alumni personally received an alumni pin from Fanny.

Following the ceremony, the alumni broke into groups for a discussion on their original QSNA ideas for improving elderly care. The discussion sparked new creativity and enthusiasm and left many new insights for our alumni, as they explored new areas of development and the potential for success of their ideas. After the discussion, the alumni gathered for lunch.

After lunch, we welcomed Susanne Svahn, who gave an inspiring presentation about entrepreneurship in the care space. She shared with the alumni many helpful tips and taught them the guidelines for writing a business plan. We then concluded the first day of the meeting with a networking session and dinner at the castle.

The following morning, the alumni continued with the discussion of their ideas from the previous day. However, this time, the alumni were made to select an idea from within their groups and create a business plan for it. It was a truly meaningful experience for the alumni as they were able to put theory into practice and apply the concepts they had learnt from Susanne Svahn the day before.

After the discussion, we gave centre stage to Anna-Carina Thygs and Ulrich Zerhusen from Care & Creation, who shared with us about marketing in the care space. It turned out to be an engaging conversation as the speakers and the alumni discussed how marketing in this sector differs in different countries. The Network Meeting eventually concluded with lunch and more opportunities for the alumni to mingle and chat with each other.

All in all, we are excited that we have done what we had set out to do: connecting our QSNA alumni with one another. Since the event, we have created a dedicated Facebook Group, where alumni can easily keep in touch with each other. Many of them also volunteered to become QSNA ambassadors and assist us in the planning for future events. The successful event was definitely an encouraging sign, and we look forward to having future Queen Silvia Nursing Award Network Meeting in Finland, Poland and Germany as well!
