Kristian Halfwordson is a 33-year-old employee of a large insurance company in Stockholm who decided to realise his dream – to ride a bike around the world in two years while raising funds for dementia research! Starting in September, Bike for Dementia is a two-year fundraising project in partnership with Dementia Forum, Swedish Care International and Swedish Alzheimer Foundation.
Over 24 months, Kristian will bike across 34 countries in 5 continents – completing a distance of 40 000 km. He will begin in Stockholm and paddle across United States, Europe, Pamir Mountains in Asia, a large part of Southern Asia as well as Australia, New Zealand, South America, the Caribbean and South America before returning and finishing in Stockholm.
Throughout the journey, Kristian will be actively raising money for dementia research. The goal is to raise at least 50 000 EUR for Swedish Alzheimer Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting research to end Alzheimer’s and other dementia diseases.
