Dementia Forum X Japan welcomed many high-level guests in the dementia care field and celebrated 150 years of diplomatic relations with Sweden and Japan. We were also very honoured to have Her Majesty (HM) Queen Silvia of Sweden to be present at the meeting.

HM Queen Silvia awarded Queen Silvia Nursing Award

On April 19, 2018, three nursing students were presented with the Queen Silvia Nursing Award during a ceremony at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. For five consecutive years, this scholarship has been presented to nursing students who have contributed winning ideas to improve the care of elderly and people with dementia.

Sjuksköterskeföreningen i Finland rf grants scholarship

The anniversary year is commemorated, among other things, by granting a scholarship to a registered nurse for training to become a Silvia Nurse®. On 22nd March 2018, the board of directors of the association chose Ms Gerd Viklund, RN as the deserving fellow and recipient of this scholarship opportunity.

Participants at the event included the year's fellow Katri Sajama, Ambassador Anders Ahnlid, and representatives of our partners who have been supporting the scholarship in Finland.

Celebrating our Queen Silvia Nursing Award scholar in Poland! (photos included)

On 21st February 2018, Poland celebrated its second Queen Silvia Nursing Award scholar, Ms Aldona Reczek-Chachulska. At the award ceremony, Ms Reczek-Chachulska received the Queen Silva Nursing Award 2017 for her idea Niezapominajka (also known as “Forget-me-not-box”)--a box containing a person's most beloved items, such as photographs, memorabilia and books, that aim to evoke memories of their younger days.
